Cricket Duel and India’s online gaming rules
India's national framework prohibits online money games and their promotion and payment facilitation. Here is how that affects a real-money Cricket Duel offer, and what a free demo does—and does not—establish.
The national framework
The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 distinguishes permitted categories such as esports and online social games from prohibited online money games. The government's 30 April 2026 explanation of the implementing rules states that the rules came into force on 1 May 2026. It describes prohibitions on online money games, their advertising and promotion, and related payment processing.
The money-game prohibition applies regardless of whether an activity involves skill, chance or both. Calling a game a sporting contest or pointing to the skill involved in real cricket does not answer the legal question about staking money on its virtual outcomes.
This is a dated summary of the published national framework, reviewed on 3 October 2026. It is not an individual legal opinion or a certification of any provider's product. Consult the current official material when a decision depends on the precise classification or application of the rules.
What this means for Cricket Duel
Cricket Duel's money-play format involves a stake and the possibility of a monetary return. We have not established a lawful Indian real-money offering. This guide therefore makes no recommendation to deposit with an Indian or offshore operator, and it does not advertise a casino as “legal in India” because it accepts rupees.
The game's developer and a casino operator perform different roles. Evoplay's product specification explains the game. It does not grant a casino permission to serve every market. Likewise, an overseas gambling licence is specific to the issuing jurisdiction.
| Claim you may encounter | What it actually proves |
|---|---|
| “Accepts INR” | A currency claim, not Indian legal permission |
| “Internationally licensed” | A claim to check with the named regulator; not universal permission |
| “Cricket is a skill sport” | Nothing about the legal treatment of this money-game format |
| “Available on my phone” | Technical access, not legal authorisation |
Free demo access is a separate question
Our demo page embeds a third-party practice environment using virtual credits. It does not accept deposits or provide withdrawals. However, we do not claim that embedding it amounts to regulatory approval or that it must be accessible to every visitor.
The provider may apply regional, browser or age controls. Respect those controls. If a session cannot open, use the official screenshots and rules explanation instead. A connection workaround is not a legal solution.
Rupee figures on this site illustrate multiplication. They are not offers of a money game, quotations of accepted stakes or confirmation that an Indian payment method is supported.
How to check future claims
Start with the date and the primary authority. An article describing only a state-by-state position from before the national framework may be out of date. The published 2026 rules and the government's explanation are more useful starting points than an undated casino landing page.
Separate a game's marketing description, a regulator's classification and an operator's permission to serve a territory. These are distinct claims that need distinct evidence. See our research methodology for how we handle missing or conflicting information.
