Payments in India: fiat and crypto explained
Understand UPI, bank transfers, cards and cryptocurrency, and how a deposit differs from a game return or withdrawal. These are explanations of payment systems, not a list of available Indian casino deposit routes.
The India context comes first
Payment technology and permission to use it are separate questions. India’s current national online-money-game framework prohibits the relevant games, their promotion and associated payment facilitation. Our India legal guide explains the dated position and links to the government’s announcement. A foreign operator, payment logo or crypto wallet does not create an exception.
This page explains the payment terminology readers encounter in casino reviews. It does not certify that a method is offered by any of the reviewed operators. No deposit or withdrawal was performed for this site. For an existing transaction dispute, use the relevant bank or payment provider’s official support process and retain the transaction reference.
The main fiat payment methods Indian readers recognise
| Method | How it works | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| UPI | Bank-linked payments through apps such as PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm and BHIM | The app is an interface; UPI is the payment system. Merchant eligibility still applies. |
| IMPS | Immediate interbank transfers, available around the clock | Bank or channel limits and beneficiary checks still matter. |
| NEFT | Bank transfers processed in half-hourly batches, 24/7 | Round-the-clock availability does not mean every credit is instantaneous. |
| RTGS | Real-time gross settlement for larger transfers; minimum ₹2 lakh | A high-value banking rail, not a typical small-payment alternative. |
| Debit / credit cards | RuPay, Visa or Mastercard card payments, subject to issuer and merchant acceptance | A logo does not guarantee authorisation, low fees or a card withdrawal option. |
| Net banking | An online banking channel for authorising payments and transfers | It is an interface; the underlying settlement may use a separate rail. |
| Wallets / prepaid balances | A stored balance offered by an eligible wallet service | A wallet balance is different from using the same app to make a bank-linked UPI payment. |
The most useful comparison starts with the rail, not the brand name on a button. UPI, IMPS, NEFT and RTGS describe systems for moving money. PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm and BHIM are familiar app names; a bank’s website is another interface. The same app can expose more than one type of financial service.
A payment being quick or widely used for ordinary commerce does not make every merchant eligible to accept it. An issuer, bank, payment service and merchant may each apply their own controls. Do not turn a generic list of Indian payment systems into a claim that all of them fund Cricket Duel.
UPI: PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm and BHIM
NPCI describes UPI as an instant payment system built for bank-account transfers. The app provides a convenient interface to that system. A PhonePe or Google Pay logo in a payment list therefore does not necessarily describe a separate settlement network. BHIM is also a UPI app, while a Paytm-branded service can refer to different products depending on context.
The distinction matters when reading a transaction record. Identify the actual bank account or wallet, the recipient, the status and the reference. A screenshot of a confirmation screen is not the same as the receiving account’s settled balance. A pending or failed transaction should be handled through the provider’s official process rather than repeated through an unknown intermediary.
Do not share a UPI PIN, card security code or one-time code with a support agent. A payment request and an incoming credit are different actions. For a disputed transaction, preserve the reference and contact the bank or app through its own verified support channel. There is no universal casino-specific UPI limit or processing time established by this guide.
IMPS, NEFT, RTGS and net banking
IMPS is designed for immediate interbank transfers and operates around the clock. Its speed describes the banking system, not a casino’s internal approval process. A platform might review a withdrawal before sending any instruction to a bank; that review is not shortened merely because the eventual rail is IMPS.
RBI’s NEFT guidance describes half-hourly batches operating throughout the day and night. NEFT should therefore not be labelled “instant” in the same sense as an immediate transfer. Bank-side checks and the time a payment enters a batch affect the experience.
RTGS settles transactions individually in real time and has a ₹2 lakh minimum. It is a high-value transfer system, not a meaningful default for a ₹100 example stake. “No RBI upper ceiling” should also not be paraphrased as unlimited transfers through every customer account or channel.
Net banking simply means using an online banking interface. It may initiate a merchant payment or a transfer using another underlying system. A review should name the actual service and conditions instead of treating every internet-banking button as one identical payment method.
Cards, wallets and international payment services
RuPay, Visa and Mastercard are card-network brands. Whether a payment is authorised depends on the card, issuer, transaction type, merchant and applicable rules. A foreign-currency charge may involve conversion or other charges under the issuer’s terms. A successful purchase authorisation would not establish that the merchant supports a withdrawal back to the same card.
Debit and credit cards also have different funding arrangements. A credit limit is borrowed money, not an extension of a game budget. Reviews should not describe a credit-card route as a way to recover losses, and the game’s 96% RTP says nothing about interest, card charges or merchant restrictions.
Wallet balances and UPI payments should not be conflated. A user may recognise an app name without using its stored-value product. Likewise, international services such as Skrill, Neteller or AstroPay should not be called universally available Indian casino methods merely because their logos appear on an overseas website. Current account eligibility, local service availability and the specific transaction all need separate confirmation.
Bitcoin, USDT, USDC and other crypto assets
| Asset | What to understand | What must not be assumed |
|---|---|---|
| Bitcoin (BTC) | A price-variable crypto asset; transfer settlement depends on its network and confirmation requirements | A quoted rupee equivalent will stay unchanged. |
| Ether (ETH) | Ethereum’s native asset; network costs are separate from the amount transferred | An Ethereum-compatible address means every network is supported. |
| Tether (USDT) | A dollar-linked token issued on multiple protocols | Every USDT network is interchangeable or accepted. |
| USD Coin (USDC) | A dollar-linked stablecoin with network-specific implementations | Dollar-linked means rupee-linked, risk-free or a bank deposit. |
| Litecoin (LTC) | A separate cryptocurrency and network | A casino’s acceptance of BTC automatically includes LTC. |
| TRON (TRX) | The native asset of the TRON network | TRX and USDT on TRON are the same asset. |
| Solana (SOL) | The native asset of Solana; tokens on the network are separate assets | Support for SOL includes every Solana token. |
Cryptocurrency introduces an additional distinction between asset and network. Tether’s supported-protocol information describes multiple implementations of USDT. That does not mean an operator accepts all of them. The same ticker on two networks is not enough to establish that a transfer will be credited.
USDC is linked to the US dollar, not the Indian rupee. Even if a dollar-linked token tracks its target, its INR value changes with the exchange rate. Stablecoins also carry issuer, custody, platform and network risks. “Stable” should not be rewritten as “guaranteed cash” or “risk-free withdrawal”.
A crypto transfer can involve network fees, required confirmations and an operator’s internal checks. Those are separate stages. An on-chain confirmation does not prove that a casino has credited the intended account, and an approved withdrawal request does not prove that the network transfer has completed. A network or address mismatch can make funds difficult or impossible to recover.
Crypto is not an alternative permission system for online money games in India. Nor is it a promise of anonymity or exemption from identity verification. This comparison does not provide a route around a rejected payment, a location restriction or account checks.
INR balances, display currencies and conversion
A balance shown as ₹1,000 can mean different things: an actual rupee account, a rupee display equivalent of another asset, or an illustrative figure in a review. Those cases should be labelled. Our INR calculator is the third kind: it multiplies an example stake by a game multiplier and never connects to a payment account.
For example, collecting a hypothetical ₹100 stake at 12× gives a ₹1,200 gross game return and ₹1,100 net game profit. That arithmetic excludes transaction costs, foreign exchange and any account-level charges. It is not a forecast of the amount arriving in a bank account.
To compare a conversion, record both currencies, the quoted rate, the date, any fixed fee and any spread included in the quote. An exchange rate from an old screenshot cannot value a current crypto withdrawal. A “zero fee” claim also needs to specify which fee it excludes: the operator, card issuer, payment service and network are different parties.
Deposit, game credit and withdrawal are different stages
A payment is received and credited under the operator’s terms.
A completed round affects the game or account balance.
The operator checks the request, eligibility and account requirements.
A bank, payment service or crypto network delivers the transfer.
An instant game describes the round format. It does not compress every stage above into an instant cash payment. A casino may support a method for deposits but require a different eligible route for withdrawals. A promotional balance may also have different conditions from an unrestricted balance.
A useful operator review therefore distinguishes advertised processing time from an independently observed result. We have not performed that account testing. Each casino profile identifies its public evidence and its limitations rather than presenting an untested payment speed as a measured finding.
Frequently asked questions
Is there one payment method for Cricket Duel?
No. Evoplay supplies the game; payment methods belong to an operator and depend on account terms, location and applicable law.
Are PhonePe, Google Pay and UPI different payment systems?
PhonePe and Google Pay are apps that can provide a UPI interface. UPI is the payment system. An app name alone does not identify every product or payment route it offers.
Does a USDT balance mean an INR account?
No. USDT is dollar-linked. An INR display may be a conversion equivalent rather than a rupee-denominated account.
Does instant gameplay mean instant withdrawal?
No. Game settlement, operator review and payment-network settlement are separate stages.
Can crypto make an online money game lawful in India?
No. Changing the payment asset does not create an exception to India’s online-money-game restrictions.
